Peugeot 908 HDi FAP (2009)
The Peugeot 908 HDi FAP is the car with which the make marked its comeback in Sarthe in 2007. Fortified of two consecutive second places, 2009 must be the victory year.
Peugeot and Audi met up in 2009 for the 77th track events of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 908 didn’t show any remarkable evolution, but this is the opposite of Audi that presented for the first time its new Audi R15 in the Sarthe. The Peugeot 908 confirmed its place by being qualified at the pole position, driven by Stéphane Sarrazin.
From the start of the race, Peugeot performed better than Audi but paid attention to not confuse speed and haste. In the first hour, one of the three Peugeot is slowed down. The last two Peugeot are fighting for the head positions against Audi, which can hardly keep up the pace. Peugeot won a double in 2009 and became the most successful French make in Le Mans, even with Matra, both counting 3 victories!
