The Hypercars are the successors to the LMP1 (for Le Mans Prototype), the new premier class of endurance racing. The manufacturers involved in this category are free to design their cars with or without a hybrid system. This freedom is expressed through the chassis’ aesthetics, which can take on the design of the make’s vehicles. Limited to 680 hp and with a minimum weight of 1030 kg, this new regulation aims to encourage fighting spirit between competitors on the track.

Peugeot has chosen to design entirely its car, from the chassis to the engine, by entering the new LMH (Le Mans Hybrid) Hypercar category. The 9X8 is powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with a 200 kW (272 hp) electric generator set up on the front axle. Cutting-edge technology developed for competition, consistent with Peugeot’s electrification strategy.
